Website Accessibility Audit

We can carry out a Website Accessibility Audit on your existing site - enabling you to plan your path to compliance with the DDA.

The purpose of the report is to identify aspects of the website which discriminate against the disabled visitor and therefore do not meet the requirements of Part III of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.

We perform both automatic and manual checks to assess website accessibility using the Web Accessibility Initiative (part of the Worldwide Web Consortium, W3C) guidelines as our benchmark. This report shows at what level of accessibility a problem exists.
Under the Disability Discrimination Act attaining Level A will be the minimum requirement - we let you know what needs to be done to reach AAA rating.

By prioritising each item of work the report will provide your business with the basis upon which to plan the required works over a reasonable period of time.

This should be seen as a long term commitment on your part to continually improve accessibility and ensure that any new pages added are accessible immediately.

The next step...

You designed your own website.

You may feel capable of making the necessary changes yourself. Once these are complete we can re-run our checks FREE OF CHARGE and inform you of the results via a brief e-mail report.

You have a web designer.

Contact your designer and make this report available to them. If your website is more than a couple of years old there is a fair chance that your designer wasn't aware of website accessibility - they will probably charge you for any remedial work. Any websites under two years old should really of had basic accessibility features built in. Web designers should now be aware of the need to make their websites accessible. Approach your designer and see if they will make the necessary changes either free of charge or at cost.

We carry out the accessibility changes.

We have taken websites and retrofitted accessibility. This involves us making changes to the coding of the web pages, making the code standards compliant. This can prove to be the most expensive option.

A complete redesign.

Sounds drastic but now might be the time to give your website a fresh look and ensure that it meets accessibility standards.

Whatever you decide, we are happy to have a chat to discuss your next move. Call us on 0845 226 0534 (lo-call) or complete our enquiry form.
